The Indian cricket team with their new coach Anil Kumble will be leaving for the upcoming West Indies tour on July 5. The Indian cricket team, which has had a preparatory camp in Bengaluru ahead of their four-match series in the Caribbean, will be assembling in Mumbai to leave for the tour. India will be playing four Tests against the West Indies.
This will be their first bilateral series against the Caribbean side after November 2014, when the tourists left their India tour midway due to the differences with the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB). The first Test of the series will begin on July 21 at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua.
The second Test of the four-match series will be at Sabina Park in Kingston, Jamaica from July 30, 2016. The third Test will be at Darren Sammy National Cricket Stadium, St Lucia starting August 9, and the fourth and final Test will be from August 18 at Port of Spain in Trinidad.
India will be captained by Virat Kohli, and he will have a new deputy for this tour in Ajinkya Rahane. The touring party consists of as many as five seam bowlers, with the Indian selectors surprising many with their decision. The pitches in the Caribbean are not known for supporting fast bowlers, but India have ensured they have a plenty of them.
The Indian cricket team will return home for what looks like a very tough home season for them. India will be playing a total of 13 Tests, 8 ODIs and 3 T20Is till March 2017. The Indian cricket team will be hosting Bangladesh, New Zealand, England and Australia in their ‘India cricket’ season.
