Still in demand in Kollywood

Despite marriage rumuors, Samantha still in demand in Tamil films. The ‘culture’ followed in Kollywood is that actresses who are married and who are about to get married are not paired up opposite frontline/second-string heroes. The maximum they get to play is some ‘meaningful’ roles.
This is in sharp contrast to the Bollywood culture where the married Aishwarya Rai didn’t mind romancing and getting intimate with an younger Ranbir Singh in their upcoming film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. News of Samantha’s impending marriage came to light a few months back but still producers and directors didn’t think of keeping a safe distance from her and not signing her opposite frontline heroes.
However, to her credit, Samantha is still courted with film offers opposite top heroes. Her only pre-condition before taking up film offers is that the film’s shoot should be completed at a hectic pace and shouldn’t drag for months together. Indirectly, she seems to be hinting that no film commitments should drag beyond the middle of next year when she plans to tie the nuptial knot with Tollywood’s Naga Chaitanya. Her latest film, which hasn’t yet been titled, pits her opposite Sivakarthikeyan who gets to work with director Ponram after successful films with him such as Rajini Murugan and Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam. It is also said that it was Samantha’s way of irritating Dhanush who ousted her from his upcoming film Vada Chennai soon after rumours of her marriage appeared in the press.
