Striking an uplifting news for the whole Tamil film organization and Tamil motion picture buffs, the progressing theaters strike in Tamil Nadu which is in its fourth day has been pulled back by the Theater proprietors. The motion picture screenings in more than 1200 theaters over the state will continue from tomorrow.
Abirami Ramanathan of Tamil Film Chamber of Commerce has reported that in the discussions held today between the business partners and the Government, an agreeable arrangement has been come to. The Government has acknowledged to frame a board with six delegates from the Government and six agents from the Kollywood including theater proprietors. This panel will have dialogs and choose the assessment structure and ticket rate for Tamil movies.
The theaters over the state were closed from last Monday (July 3) as the TN Government passed a mandate to impose 30% Entertainment charge on each film ticket separated from the GST settled by the Union Government, which will be at the rate of 28% for tickets above Rs.100 and 18% for tickets beneath Rs.100. The theater proprietors dissented this choice and needed the administration to pull back the Entertainment impose demanded through the nearby bodies. Henceforth, they went on strike and shut the film corridors for as long as four days.
Presently the strike has been pulled back and the films will be screened in theaters from tomorrow (July 7, 2017). As there is no new discharge planned during the current end of the week, the movies discharged a week ago, including 'Ivan Thanthiran' are required to be held in every one of the screens.
