Finally cauvery water reached Mukkombu

Nadanthaai Vaazhi Cauvery (You stroll along thriving lives on the banks, may you live long), the reference to the waterway in the epic Silappathikaaram, resounded in the hearts of local people as the Cauvery water at last made it to the Upper Anicut (Mukkombu) on Friday. In the wake of covering a dry separation of 121 km from the Mettur dam, which was opened on Tuesday, water is presently spouting towards Grand Anicut (Kallanai) from where it would be let into Vennar and Cauvery bowls on Saturday to start Samba development. A sum of 86,342 sections of land in eight squares, including Manikandam, Tiruverumbur, Manachanallur, Lalgudi, and Thottiyam, in the locale would see expanded agrarian exercises identified with Samba crop in the coming days.
