India started their campaign in the Atletico Paranaense U-17 tournament on a bitter note as they went down to US-based club Orlando City SC 0-1, the All India Football Federation (AIFF) said on Tuesday.
India earned an early corner riding a bright start with Ninthoi coming close to opening the scoring in the 15th minute on Monday, AIFF said in a statement here.
Both teams went into the change-over goalless. (India U-17 World Cup team leaves for exposure trips to Brazil, Russia)
In the 47th minute of the game, Orlando found the back of the net from a blistering counter-attack.
Towards the end of the game, Abhijit, Joysana and Shubham Sarangi were introduced by coach Nicolai Adam to find the equaliser -- but in vain.
India will face tournament hosts Atletico Paranaense on Wednesday.
